Bundesverband Deutscher Gartenfreunde e. V.
About this federation
The Bundesverband Deutscher Gartenfreunde e. V. (BDG) is the national umbrella organisation of Germany's allotment gardeners, with its seat in Berlin. It traces its origins to the Reichsverband der Kleingartenvereine Deutschlands, founded on 21 August 1921. The federation brings together 20 regional federations (Landesverbände) and over 13,000 local allotment-garden clubs, which together manage roughly 900,000 allotment gardens used by about five million gardeners across some 44,000 hectares. In 2023 the organisation was renamed Bundesverband der Kleingartenvereine Deutschlands e. V. (BKD).
