It emerged from the Bezirksgruppe Steintor in 1926 and was entered into the register of associations under its current name in 1974. The district association is a member of the Landesverband Braunschweig der Gartenfreunde e. V. and brings together around 15 allotment garden clubs across the city of Braunschweig, including clubs such as "Brodweg," "Hopfenkamp," and "Klosterblick." Some of the associated garden sites lie on the grounds of the former Klostergut Riddagshausen, where allotment gardening use began as early as 1916.
