Kreisverband Schleswig-Flensburg

Kreisverband Schleswig-Flensburg der Gartenfreunde e.V. is the district association for allotment gardening in the Schleswig-Flensburg district (Schleswig-Holstein) and a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state federation of garden friends. In its current form it was created on October 11, 1974, through the merger of the previously independent district associations of Schleswig and Flensburg-Land. It comprises nine member clubs, three urban and six rural, with around 1,000 members in total, cultivating roughly 600,000 square meters of allotment garden land. Its member clubs include the Kleingärtnerverein Kappeln (founded 1814) and the Verein der Gartenfreunde Schleswig (founded 1821), two of the oldest allotment garden clubs in Germany.
