Stadtverband Bonn der Gartenfreunde e.V.

Stadtverband Bonn der Gartenfreunde e.V. is the city federation of allotment garden associations in Bonn (North Rhine-Westphalia). It was founded in 1927 by the three large associations Bonn-Altstadt, Bonn-Süd and Bonn-Rheindorf to jointly represent the interests of allotment gardeners toward landowners. Today the federation unites 20 allotment garden associations across the city of Bonn with a total of 899 organized garden plots. The federation supports the promotion and preservation of allotment garden facilities, provides professional advice and training to its member associations, and contributes to environmental and landscape protection. Between 1959 and 1967 the federation lost significant land due to the development of Bonn as the seat of the federal government, and the number of gardens could not be restored to its historical level until 2002.
