Verband der Gartenfreunde Riesa
About this federation
Verband der Gartenfreunde Riesa e.V. is a district association covering the city of Riesa and neighboring municipalities in the Meißen district (Saxony), including Nünchritz, Gröditz, Zeithain and Strehla. It is the umbrella organization for more than 70 allotment garden clubs with around 5,000 gardening families on several million square meters of allotment garden land. The independent district association of Riesa was founded in 1957 and is today a member of the Saxon State Association of Allotment Gardeners (Landesverband Sachsen der Kleingärtner e.V.) and the Federal Association of German Garden Friends (Bundesverband Deutscher Gartenfreunde e.V.). The association advocates for the preservation of allotment gardens as places of meaningful leisure activity and as an integral part of a socially balanced city.
