Kreisverband Prignitz

Kreisverband Prignitz is the district association of garden friends in the Prignitz region (Brandenburg) and a member of the Landesverband Brandenburg der Gartenfreunde e. V., and thereby affiliated with the Bundesverband Deutscher Gartenfreunde. It unites 51 allotment garden clubs across 8 locations with around 2,194 active members, most of them in Wittenberge and Perleberg, with further clubs in Pritzwalk, Karstädt, Glöwen, Lenzen, Bad Wilsnack and Dallmin. Organized allotment gardening in the region dates back to the 19th century: the earliest garden associations were founded in 1828 in Perleberg and in 1867 in Wittenberge. The board and management work mostly on a volunteer basis, supported by two paid staff members at the district office.
